something cool in acr
Monday, March 10, 2008 at 02:19PM I am watching photoshop movies right now and I just found a cool new effect in acr. Raise the fill light and recovery, lower the exposure and the saturation and whala! A strange, new effect! I have seen a lot of ads in magazines using this effect but I had no idea how to do it until now!

wanna take it another step further to coolness even? raise the CLARITY slider to 100% as well and watch what happens! :)
Oh, and Lightroom = HUGE timesaver... At least I've found that since I switched from ACR to LR. :)
How ironic, just the other day I noticed a local wedding photographer here has one of those photos on his website, I could not figure out how he did it ps. Very cool!!!
oh, and me thinks that photo of your friend with the Sesame Street book would look very funky with this effect!!!
see. i always though i needed luscious art for this. welcome to raw. it's funny that you were the "jpeg girl" going in to Love Affair... and now... dun dun dunnnnnnn
i love raw. saves so much time. and i am leaning to LR too. just gonna wait to go to wppi see if i can get a special or b&h coupon code... or something.
Aaaagh, I'm so glad you posted this!!...I was just looking at this guy Randal Ford's site earlier today and had no idea where to start!

check him out!
One of the biggest advantage of shooting raw that you've already found out is the ease of color balancing. This processing method is another. Now imagine, that what you did to this image, could be batched and duplicated to all your other image. In one click. This is one of the many advantages of shooting raw. Now, imagine this applied to a wedding workflow :)
for some reason my clarity controler isn't showing up in ACR at all. I just upgraded a few days ago.
Where do you find these Photoshop movies?? That is what I have been looking for!!!!
What version of PS/ACR are you using, LC? If you're using ACR in PS CS2, it may not be there... CS3's ACR has it, as does Lightroom's RAW processor, which runs the same RAW processing engine as ACR.
cs3
hmmm... strange. CS3 should definitely have it in ACR. it should be the slider right above the saturation and luminance sliders. Make sure your ACR is updated to the latest version as well. Feel free to shoot me an email or IM if you wanna chat about it.
awesome, great post...been playing in LR all evening with this!
